Groundbreaking Ceremony for Mountain View Hospital Held in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS —  A groundbreaking ceremony took place on Oct. 24 for Mountain View Hospital’s new freestanding emergency room (ER) at Aliante in Nevada. The new facility is intended to help cut down on response times in the Aliante area, located in North Las Vegas, and is slated to open in summer 2018.

North Las Vegas is one of Nevada’s fastest growing areas with just under 245,000 residents — a 10 percent increase from 2010 — according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The stand-alone, 24-hour facility will operate as a fully integrated department of Mountain View Hospital, giving patients living in the Aliante area closer access to emergency medical services as well as creating 35 new jobs.

The 11,000-square-foot building has a budget of $10 million. KGA Architecture in Las Vegas was the architect chosen for the project. The new building will include 12 patient rooms and a full array of lab services and a blood bank, and will provide radiology services that will include CAT scans, an X-ray and ultrasound. The new facility will provide pharmacy services as well and will offer care to both adults and pediatric patients.

ER at Aliante will adhere to the same regulatory and accreditation standards as traditional emergency departments, and will provide all of the services traditionally available at on-site ERs. The only exception to this is trauma care and patients requiring transport by air ambulances. For those patients who require hospital admission, they will be transported to an affiliated hospital that meets the required level of care.

“This state-of-the-art facility will bring healthcare services right into our neighborhoods and expand the medical options available to our growing population,” said John Lee, mayor of Las Vegas in a recent statement. “I commend MountainView Hospital for its investment in North Las Vegas and for its commitment to the health and well-being of our residents.”
